Did you know?
In Greece Mother's Day began as a day known as “Mother worship”, later the early Christians in England celebrated a day to honor Mary, the mother of Christ. By a religious order the holiday was later expanded in its scope to include all mothers, and named it as the "Mothering Sunday".
On this special Sunday it is important for us to recognize the divine role of motherhood and its influence and power in our lives. The teachings of our Mothers are the ones that we will hold on to for all our lives, the teachings we will look back on to find meaning and understanding, the teachings that will guide us forever. My Mother is always happy, she never doubts us or our dreams, she cares about our needs and wants, and brings us comfort in our times of trial. I love my Mother. She has been a huge example to me and strengthened me in every way possible. I thank her for that strength. I hope that I to can be a Mother that shows my children the Christ-like love my Mother has shown me.
I am so grateful for Mothers.
This Mother's Day Shea got me some beautiful flowers and candy,
even though I am not officially a mom yet, I guess I am close enough. Shea makes me feel so special and honored to be caring his son, I love them both so much.
I found this Mother's Day card in a magazine, it is for soon
to be mom's (like me!) and it made me smile.
“God could not be everywhere, and so He gave us mothers.”

"The noblest calling in the world is that of mother. True motherhood is the most beautiful of all arts, the greatest of all professions. She who can paint a masterpiece or who can write a book that will influence millions deserves the plaudits and admiration of mankind; but she who rears successfully a family of healthy, beautiful sons and daughters whose immortal souls will be exerting an influence throughout the ages long after paintings shall have faded, and books and statues shall have been destroyed, deserves the highest honor that man can give."
-David 0. McKay
“Mothers, who willingly made that personal journey into the valley of the shadow of death to take us by the hand and introduce us to birth—even to mortal life—deserves our undying gratitude."
- President Thomas S. Monson
"Motherhood is the greatest potential influence in human society. Her caress first awakens in the child a sense of security; her kiss the first realization of affection; her sympathy and tenderness, the first assurance that there is love in the world. Thus in infancy and childhood she implants ever-directing and restraining influences that remain through life."
-David 0. McKay
"A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts."
- Washington Irving
Happy Mother's Day!
