38 Weeks and Making Progress

Final Days of Pregnancy

Doctor's visit this week was a little more exciting then last time. I had guessed he had dropped so it was a relief to hear that yes he has. So he is in position and looking good. Then I got checked for dilation, I was 1-2 cm. I was STOKED. Shea was surprised, I had been telling him that was what I was hoping but I thought it was just strong wishing. But YAY, my baby is listening to Mom already! I was also 50% effaced (cervix thinned). So he also asked me if I wanted to get my membranes stripped, which I did. I was surprised that he wanted to do it this early. I was thinking he would wait till 39 or 40 weeks for that. But he did it then and there, it wasn't too bad. And now I am hoping that our beautiful baby will join our family tonight or tomorrow or the next day. Hopefully soon!!!

But as of now I am not feeling anything painful yet.

Wondering what baby is up to at 38 weeks?
- Baby might just scratch himself in the womb as the fingernails have grown over the fingertips now.
- Baby's lungs continue to mature and his brain and nerve functions are working better every day.
- Baby weighs about 6½ pounds and is around 19 or 20 inches long

Wondering how pregnancy is?
- How far along: 38 weeks
- Total weight gain/loss: +27 pounds
- Maternity clothes: Shea's basketball shorts are my favorites.
- Stretch marks: Not from where I can see.
- Sleep: My bladder is killing me, it takes all my strength to lunge out of bed and make it to the bathroom. Last night I had to get up 7 times.
- Nausea: A little queasy in the morning, but nothing bad.
- Movement: Baby has dropped and I am having a lot less pain in the ribs. Pregnancy is a lot less uncomfortable now that he has dropped. There is more pressure down low, but it's not bad. He is moving but a lot less lately, not much room in there I guess. If I ever get worried I just poke around and he will poke back, very entertaining. I also can feel him move his "knees" back and forth, back and forth sometimes at night. And he has had the hiccups almost twice a day for a while now.
- Food cravings: Fruit. I have grapefruit in the morning for breakfast, and strawberries all the time. Fruit smoothies are still hitting the spot too!
- What I miss: My bladder is still the sore point.
- What I am enjoying: My baby is obeying Mommy already, and the Doctor said it looks like he wants to come! SO YAY YAY YAY! Come baby come! We are already!
