Halloween

Halloween this year came in a few different parts.

First we had our new ward's Trunk or Treat.
Which was a little weird because we haven't even been officially introduced in the ward, since our records haven't been transferred yet, so no one knew who we were and just mostly thought we were guests of the Martin's.

Connor had a School Halloween Parade and Party, that both Shea and I got to go to. First we watched Connor and the rest of the school parade around the track in their Halloween costumes. Then we all went back to the classroom for the kids parties. We were major helpers while the kids made their scarecrows. And I was impressed with his teacher's work with their treat bags and snacks. And Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin played in the background!

We also took advantage of IHOP's Halloween Breakfast, FREE MAKE YOUR OWN SCARY FACE PANCAKES for the Kids!

We had a fun Halloween Party this year. The kids were stoked. So we decoarated and made balloon ghosts to hang and the kids got to hand out glowsticks to our guests (the martins).

Sydney was obsessed with the Spider Web game Amberlee brought for the kids! She did it over and over and over again!

We made MUMMY DOGS for dinner. Which was probably the coolest thing ever to Connor! Although he wouldn't actually eat one of them.

After Curious George: A Halloween Boo Fest was over and dinner was done it was Sydney's bedtime.

Amberlee also brought an awesome Halloween Bingo game to play, which made good use of our candy corn. It was perfect for the kids and I can't wait to do it every year.

Amberlee also brought some ghosts to join the party!

We let the kids stay up late and watch Corpse Bride and eat Halloween candy, while we all chatted. Then it was bedtime for kids.

While the rest of us stayed up and played a Zombie board game and Arkham Horror (Shea's favorite game of all time).

2 AM came way too fast and we finally all zonked out.

Finally it was officially HALLOWEEN!
A big part of the day was spent carving our pumpkins so we could light them up that night!

We were pretty happy with them and got a few comments on
how awesome they were which made us only feel all the better,
even if we did get around to them a little late this year.
We then all hurried to get costumes on.
Connor was a little indecisive this year and chose to go with an old costume and a new weapon, so last minute he decided that he was done being a Ninja this year and was up for his Spider-man costume from last year.

Bella was Ladybug Girl, from the book series.

Sydney was the sweetest Strawberry in the world and I was in love with her costume. And am all too excited to have more Halloween's with sweet strawberry girls.

Then it was off to Trick or Treating!

Sydney and I went along for a couple blocks and then went home to hand out candy.

And we got first dips on leftovers!

Finally our favorite trick or treater's came! Everyone was a little exhausted so after changing into pjs and setting up our annual Halloween sleepover Connor couldn't make it through all of Hocus Pocus, so we had reruns for the next few days.

After the kids were out Shea and I got to enjoy a showing of Sixth Sense. It was a fun night.

Happy US

As titillated infatuated kids we were happy and strong and brave and threw caution to the wind.

Marriage didn't start out easy with both of us in school, working but making little to no money. Marriage today isn't easy either we are constantly balancing; work schedules, kids schedules, Connor's school schedule, and the beloved battle with finances. Through it all we have been each others best friends; we vent and cry and pray and laugh and share everything with each other (and I tend to overshare ;) There have even been points in my life where I complain about how lonely I am and how I want some friends that understand this crazy life we have, that get me and can support the ups and downs of being a wife and mother. But I forget how good I have it, and I wouldn't trade my friendship with my husband for anything. Because if there is one thing we are (fairly) good at it is communication, well unless I'm trying to communicate how to get socks in the hamper then there is no hope.

Now we are having Baby 4 and WOW I'd say we are still those kids; but happier, stronger, braver and loving the life we call ours. It is not easy or perfect or some magical fairy tale; because let's be honest our kids watch way too much TV, have way too many toys, Shea and I laugh way too hard when the kids trip and fall, and there are rarely moments where our home is harmonious or decisions are made quietly and unanimously. But it is so much better because we are continually learning and growing and the love we began with changes and builds as we work hard to fight for a marriage that is worth everything and can last eternally.

----------------------------------------------------------

On our anniversary to celebrate Shea took me and the girls to breakfast at Panera to start the day off right! It was delicious!

And now I am addicted.

We had lunch at Five Guys and dinner at Outback with the kids,
which was a lot more fun in theory :)

Sydney even enjoyed my anniversary dessert at home the next day...

And that weekend we got a night out just us! Which we totally deserved and loved!

Cheers to a ...
Happy Anniversary!
Happy 7 years!
Happy Marriage!
Happy Life!
And Happy Us!

I'd say we lucked out!
