What's our TODDLER up to now?

UPDATE:
Con is well into his 13th month! And he is growing and doing so well. He has been in a few accidents, split lip, second-degree burn, and lots of bumps/bruises/cuts. We can barely keep up with him nowadays. And nothing breaks your heart more than your child crying and in pain. But he is so tough that most of the time a few cuddles make him all better.
When we went to the doctor for his burn at the beginning of the month, we learned that our big boy is slimming down a lot:
Height: 28 inches (2nd Percentile) His height seems wrong, but he squirms so much I don't blame them. I guess we've got a shorty on our hands, haha.
Weight: 22.3 lbs (30th Percentile) Big difference! I say so, from a few months ago.
Head circumference: 18.8 inches (76th Percentile) Can you say big head?

Connor is getting so smart and we love his little personality that is starting to really shine. He has all sorts of fun facial expressions and we can’t get enough of his cuddles. He loves going new places and meeting new people. He gets a little nervous but he is so intrigued and can’t wait to get down. Connor eats anything he can get his hands on. Seriously everything goes in this kid’s mouth. Wow I never imagined him being so obsessed. It is a bit frustrating at times, as you can imagine. Con grabs and pulls his own hair, randomly. And pulls on his own cheeks, and randomly slaps them when hes frustrated. Shea and I LOVE Connor's hair, it curls up in the back (like mine did when I was little), people comment on it all the time and I can't help but take pride in our handsome little charmer.

MILESTONES
- At least 12 teeth have made their debut and his mouth is pretty full. But we do have a couple spaces left.
- Connor walks everywhere, rarely crawls, and sometimes runs.
- He is getting much more independent, not wanting to hold our hand when he walks, wanting to feed himself, and drink himself. And he plays in his room on his own every day. I love seeing him in there just having the best time ever.
- He can stand up on his own, that’s right he doesn’t need to pull himself up anymore.
- It took him awhile but he has now mastered the sippy cup, he can use it all by himself, no help included.
- He knows what “night, night” means.
- TALKING, some new Con language is …
             “ruff, ruff”=Dog
             “daai”=Daddy
He knows what ball means and occasionally uses “baba” as ball.
Every day it seems like he is trying to speak to us more and more, I just wish I could understand him better. I need to get better at my baby language I guess.

Trying hard to do a photo shoot with ConBoy. He wasn't a fan of the tie around his neck and he wouldn't step in the shoes so it turned out a little like this...

LIKES

- Loves to explore, new places especially, he gets into everything.
- He is loving catch, or should I say fetch. The farther you throw the ball the more excited he gets, and then he will bring it back. And sometimes he even does it with the ball in his mouth. He is such a goof.
- Loves his milk bottles for bedtime!
- Loves finding things to hit things with, like a sword. He uses ladles, sticks, rulers. Yes, watch out.
- Loves when he figures out to pull his diaper off, this has only happened a few times, thank goodness, but wow when he does it he laughs and laughs and runs around so excited ready to be chased.
- Loves climbing upstairs. He has no idea how to get down, so it is a little scary. But since we have no stairs at our apartment he doesn’t have much to practice on.
- He loves sitting and playing on his bed!
- He loves blankets and sleeping with them and chewing on them when he gets tired, he also loves his stuffed animal “sleepy dog”.

DISLIKES

- Not a huge fan of bath time, he will play a little bit but HATES getting water on his face or hair
- Hates being changed, he tries so hard to get away and run off naked.
- He likes dogs from a distance, but when they bark and jump up, he will hold on to us for dear life and shake his legs and sometimes cry. But he can’t help but watch everything they go and do.
- He doesn’t enjoy teeth brushing it is usual a short little brush because we have to fight him and he bites the toothbrush so we will stop.
- Bedtime and Naptime are not his favorites, sometimes he does better than others.

MOMMY AND DADDY’S FAVORITE CONNOR-ISMS:
- Connor likes to explore behind things. So he gets stuck sometimes behind couches (Shea’s parent’s couches in particular), our TV stand, our rocking chair, etc. It is so funny to hear him squeal, kind of a nervous, “I’m STUCK” sound! It is adorable.
- Sometimes he will go up to the TV and watch like “Lucky” from 101 Dalmations. It is so cute and I try so hard to get a picture but I have yet to be successful. Seriously this is like my number 1 favorite Connorism!
- When Daddy is at work he will go around occasionally shouting “DAAI, DAAI”, expecting Daddy to answer. He beats on the bathroom door and looks out the window.
- Sometimes we play Marco Polo with Connor, it goes a little like this, “Connor, CONNOR” … “Huh”. He can never stay one place too long.
Sleepy Face!

No Pink

Okay so ultrasound one said "Girl", and that is what were planning. Ultrasound two is scheduled for July 19th. Cross your fingers our baby is confirmed "Girl".

Most people buy pink, when they hear girl. And let me tell you a little goes a long way.

I have talked to a few friends and they got so sick of putting pink on their baby girl, because that is mostly what they had gotten.

Let's be honest here, I am no pink barbie girl. So pink has never really been my thing.

So I have decided we are not buying any pink! Pink accents, Yes! But I am really aiming for variety. Browns, purples, yellows, greens, blues. I don't want a pink closet. I know we are going to get some pink stuff from people, so why add to it. Especially since I am not the fondest of pink. And with girl clothes their is just so much more variety. I love it!

Don't get me wrong though, I want lots of dresses and ruffles and bows. An all girl closet.

And lets be honest... if I come across a "to die for" pink dress, I may break my rule. Pink can be done right, right?

As of now our baby girl has one dress.
(Although I will have to add a long sleeve onesie and
leggings, since it will be a tad chilly in November.)

PS: I am in LOVE with TARGET! I want everything!

Can you tell I am itching for a baby shopping spree?

Proud to be an American!

Happy Fourth of July!

This year we sure had some Stanger fun!
I love holidays and so it was time for some celebration, I made sure it was a day to remember.
We started off our day with the Rexburg Parade. The Stanger's joined us and we watched out in the roaring sun.
Notice his "Captain America" shirt!

Then we went to the Stanger house for donuts and napping.

Exploring the Kitchen

We had cheeseburgers and watermelon for lunch.

Connor couldn't get enough watermelon all day!

We watched the boys play football and frisbee. Connor found a rock pile and chose the perfect one. He showed it to everyone and was so proud.

Connor felt a little left out.

Then we went on a walk, that made us all a little sleepy.

After a game of "Ticket to Ride" we had hot dogs and smores cooked by the backyard fire.

Grandpa Stanger and Connor watching the fire.

Once it got dark enough, our firework show began! We watched from the inside and it was just as good. We heard everything through an open window and it was a little less scary for Connor.

What a perfect day!

We are so fortunate to live in the USA and it has brought so many blessings to our lives. Our country is so strong and giving to other nations. It is a wonderful opportunity that we have to be a part of such a great part of history, America.

"And I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

Audrey Insight

Audrey Hepburn wrote this when asked to share her "beauty tips." It was read at her funeral years later.
For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.

For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.

For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.

For beautiful hair, let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day.

For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.

People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone.

Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms.

As you grow older, you will discover that you have two  hands; one for helping yourself, and the other for helping others.

I liked this a lot, it was shared today in our Relief Society. I mean for a woman that is a beauty icon. That lived in Hollywood and is a timeless star. Her beliefs have such strength and a grounded presence to them that adds a little insight into our own lives. What does beauty really mean?

Wait June ...

Okay so we are officially onto July but we had some good times in June but my camera was on vacation. So sorry for the absence of pretty family pictures.

We had a special Father's Day, where Connor and I made Daddy a special framed photo that said "Daddy is all mine!" Shea was impressed with my creative project (I wish I had done some things differently to make it look a little nicer). I made Daddy's favorite cookies, chocolate peanut butter chip.

After some Daddy time we went to Shea's parents for dinner. Connor sure loves visiting, he loves the attention, and being in a different place to explore.

Shea is a wonderful father and I couldn't have asked for a more loving and caring husband. I love to watch Connor and him play together. Connor gets so excited for Daddy to come home from work, he runs at the door and waves his arms, with his thrilled little grin. It is so sweet.

Another special day was June 21st ...

My 23rd Birthday!  Shea got me flowers and breakfast. We went to the doctor and found out we are probably having a girl. We did a little shopping (my favorite), went to dinner at the Outback, and had a bowling adventure with some friends. Shea bought me a yummy cheesecake and decorated it. I haven't blown out candles for awhile so it was a lot of fun to have something so special. Shea made my day quite an event with a few surprises. I loved it!
