The Great Outdoors

This last weekend our little family took a short camping trip, it was nice to relax by the fire and enjoy all the sounds of nature. Connor did great, he was absorbed in all the new things to look at.

This is how our adventure went once we got to the campground ...

Shea set up the tent while I built the fire, and Connor watched from his Bumbo.

Connor took a nap in the tent while we cooked and ate our tin foil dinners.
We read by the fire for a little while, and played with Connor.
And we saw an owl!

Then it started to get dark, around 9:00pm so we roasted marshmallows.
We got all snug in the tent and read scriptures, and talked until we were tired.
And then fast asleep we were.

In the morning we woke up early and walked by the river beside us.

Then we had some more fun making Connor smile. He was such a happy camper.

(And yes he has a funny part in his hair, because this is what
happens when Mommy forgets to sweep his cowlick over)

We packed up our camp, enjoyed a little breakfast and off we went.
Connor was sad to leave.

It was nice to have a little vacation away from Rexburg. Our trip had a few little mishaps along the way ...
giant bug stuck in the car while I changed Connor's diaper, bugs chasing me and my marshmallow by the fire, bottle of water spilling in our tent before bed, Gatorade spilling in the car, and a few other clumsy things
... and of course they were always centered around me, but Shea said it made the trip all the more fun.

Lets just say it wasn't boring.

  1. It sounds like you guys had an awesome little adventure. It is so much fun to go camping, even when they are babies. We haven't been as adventurous outdoors this summer since we've been busy, so I'm kind of jealous. I hope you had a blast! Miss you tons
