Time to buy BLUE

This week I am at 20 weeks, and it is time to start buying BLUE!
(prego pic at 20 weeks)

Shea and I went to the doctor on Monday and found out that we are having a boy! It was so exciting watching the ultrasound, he kept putting his hands in front of his face and trying to hide, it seemed. I guess we are going to have a shy one. It is so fun knowing this little one inside of me even more. He is in the 40th percentile for growth right now. Which doesn't mean much right now, since it is still pretty early, but I am hoping for a small baby because my stretching stomach is beginning a little painful and uncomfortable. Everything looked great in the ultrasound, a happy, healthy, little mover. We got a DVD of the ultrasound of our baby boy, which is fun to see him open his eyes and mouth and move all around. I guess that means its time to start decorating the nursery and start buying clothes.

(Ultrasound pics- waving hand, foot kicking me, profile pic, hands pulling feet up ready to suck on those toes)

After the appointment Shea and I bought a few things to celebrate our baby boy. Names are all up in the air, as of right now. But I have decided that I may try to do a jungle animal kinda theme for the nursery. I can't wait to welcome this little guy into the world, I just hope the time will fly by ... because right now time is dragging on.
(Baby boy clothes and more, Shea and I have bought a few things but most of the items are from friends and family!)

We have moved into the new apartment and love it, it is so much nicer and bigger. It feels so nice to be settled and we are getting the unpacking done, slowly but surely. Now that we are in the new place I feel anxious for this little guy's arrival. I am trying hard to keep the money in the bank, but I just keep getting all these ideas for decorating.

Shea and I are going to be a Daddy and Mommy in May!

Shea and I are happy to announce our wonderful news ... we are going to have a baby. I am now 19 weeks pregnant... and soon approaching the 5 month marker! WE found out our news in September. I had a few symptoms (fatigue mainly) that led me to believe that I may be pregnant. I couldn’t get the thought out of my head and finally decided to take a pregnancy test at the very end of September, which was positive. We are so excited!

As you can assume the pregnancy made my last semester a little unbearable at times, but somehow I was able to make it through. I had some morning sickness, but for the most part the sick mornings are coming to a close. Thank goodness. Now that school is done and we are soon to be settled in a new apartment I am feeling a great sense of relief.

My due date is May 31st. On Monday (Jan 11th) we hope to find out if our little baby is a boy or girl. We can’t wait for the news it just seems so surreal. I am feeling our tiny one kick all the time now; it is such a magical time. As some of you know and some of you might have guessed I have a bit of a baby belly now. The picture below is me at 18 weeks …

I promise I am not pushing my belly out or sucking in at all, and there are no hidden pillows under my shirt:) Our families are so excited for the new addition to our family. I will be posting again soon!

Graduation in Idaho … Christmas in Maryland

December went by so fast. School drove both Shea and I crazy. I completed my final semester and was left with A’s and a few B’s; which wasn’t too bad considering how hectic this semester has been. I didn’t do the whole graduation walk thing mainly due to the fact that my family wasn’t going to make it. We were also in the middle of moving which would have made the whole graduation ordeal impossible. Moving has been complicated, considering we moved into a storage unit so that we wouldn’t have to pay an extra month of rent, and my parents flew us out to visit for a few weeks. We can move into the new apartment the week of Jan 11th, so it stinks we have to move twice but it is worth the cost.

I was so excited to go to Maryland for Christmas. It was hard being away from my family for the holidays last year. We mostly just relaxed while we were there, we saw Sherlock Holmes and Avatar while we were there (we were impressed how much we liked both movies). Mom, Amberlee and enjoyed making and eating Christmas cookies together- Russian Teacakes and Candycane Cookies. Yummy. For Christmas Santa came in the morning, we all had fun opening gifts and watching new movies, and playing new games. Shea was excited to get “Bedknobs and Broomsticks”, so we watched that as we ate a quick brunch. That night we my Dad made dinner and we went to Aunt Shauna’s for dessert. We exchanged gifts again there and had fun visiting with cousins. The next day we exchanged our Secret Santa gifts, although the secret part kinda fell through for some people :)

New Years Eve is a big deal in our household; it was a great time of celebration and the ringing in of a new year. We have a ton of munchies to snack on all night long, and finger sandwiches for dinner! Then everyone picked a game to play and we began with the youngest. We stopped in the middle of games to watch the ball drop and clink our glasses of sparkling cider together at 12. Every new years at 12 we shout out the windows “HAPPY NEW YEAR” usually the people who shout back are drunk but this year the neighbors and their kids were enjoying the echo of our voices. Once everyone settled down we began the games again. Some of us didn’t end our partying until 6ish in the morning. So you can imagine how late everyone slept in the next day. Fortunately, I woke up to catch the end of the New Years Day Parade.

(Getting a little tipsy...)

(The day before new years eve I talked Amberlee into getting a haircut. It turned out way cute!)

Overall Shea and I loved the time to feel carefree. I took Shea to a Japanese Steakhouse- Miyako – they cooked right in front of us and the food was amazing. Miyako has been my favorite restaurant for the past 10 years… or whenever they opened up in Frederick. Joseph and I got to have a nerf gun war, play alphabet fishing, play hide and seek, and we played several Joe versions of games-Chess, Life, Apples to Apples. Amberlee and I painted our nails and had fun catching up on all the classic drama of a young teenager. Daniel and Ryan loved the opportunity to play video games with Shea- “a true bonding experience” I am told. We even had a chance to take a bowling trip, where my Mom won twice.

It was hard to leave and come back to the real world of moving, and bills, and work…
But we are back.
