One less tooth ...

Our little Connor has a new nickname "Toothless"! Just like on one of his favorite movies, How To Train Your Dragon.

It all started with a jump off the couch at the end of August, he landed on his feet really hard and it made his knees pop up right into his mouth so the force caused some trauma. A little blood and his front tooth was a little loose. Thinking nothing of it I tried to reassure Shea that he was fine (he is the worrier!), Connor soon was asleep and woke with no complaints and completely back to normal. I scheduled a dentist appt the next day (per doctor's request), just for some validation that everything was fine. We headed out that day with no blood or swelling, just a little red gum and the tooth just a little loose. We went to an awesome Pediatric Dentist, which I loved! It was extremely kid friendly with a playground, and beds instead of dentist chairs, and kid movies playing, at every turn. The place even made me happier about the dentist. Connor was enjoying himself and soon it was his turn. He did really well with x-rays considering he was wearing a giant vest, and falling off a stool, and had sharp uncomfortable things jabbed inside his mouth. After a few tries and half the x-rays done the hygenist decided that this was enough and we could move on. So he laid done on the bed while he watched Toy Story 2. He was nervous and held my hand tightly, I hate seeing him scared. Then she started brushing his teeth and then started "counting" them. We mentioned something about the tooth we were concerned about and she said she wasn't allowed to say but to her it looked fine. Connor wasn't too excited with all the "counting" she was doing so after a little drink he was done. Which she said fine. Feeling very confident that everything is okay, we met the dentist. Who took one look at the x-ray and sighed. Saying "Oh boy, I wish I had good news for you." Not exactly what we wanted to hear. He looked over all his teeth and determined that his bite was great and there were no cavities. Then we went on to the hard stuff, Connor got to cuddle with me, while the dentist broke the news to us. The trauma he suffered from the tooth being hit caused a fractured root; therefore, the tooth would have to be extracted and then the root pieces would have to be pulled out. He explained that it was not the impact of the trauma, it was the angle of the trauma. He assured us that this is rare and doesn't see these often. But the result was the same, Connor would be loosing his front tooth early, and the permanent tooth would come down on schedule at about 7-8 years. He explained our options, and we decided on the least traumatic one, dental surgery under anesthia. We scheduled the appt for two weeks down the road.

Well those weeks came and went, can you tell we have been extra active playing lots! Enjoying our time not trying to think about this. I know it is not the end of the world but something about having your sweet little boys smile change was slightly devastating for me.

On we went and Saturday the 17th was here. It was scheduled for 6AM. So after dropping Bella off to be babysat at 5:30AM we headed to the dentist. We talked to Connor the last couple days trying our best to prepare him and talk honestly but positively about the experience. He is seriously the sweetest boy. And the day of he wanted to stay with Bella, telling me "she is crying, she needs me", but as soon as I told him it was time to go to the dentist so they could pull his tooth out, he calmed down and snuggled in and said "alright".

While we completed paperwork and cuddled our boy he kept telling us how hungry he was. I hated having to make him fast and knowing he would have to be on very soft almost liquid foods for the next few days.

He didn't want to play, so he enjoyed the Kung Fu Panda movie while we waited.

Soon enough it was time to start. The dentist came and answered ALL my questions and explained the process. The anesthiologist then came and explained her role and the medications: anesthia, pain meds, and anti-nausea meds. The first step was a little tranquilizer in the leg, which sounded very scary, she gave him a shot which made him scream his heart out! But he got to pick a prize to take home. And within a couple minutes he went from pain, to calm, to sleeping with his eyes open. She then came and carried him to the back. We were assured it would only be 30 mins to an hour. So I decided to grab a little food that we could eat. And when I arrived it was already over, it only took 20 mins! Shea was in the back waiting with our sleeping little boy.

We watched him in his slumber as we waited for his wake. After 45 minutes the hygenist came in and told us we could try to wake him now. So we did. He woke groggy and very loopy. After 15 mins he could hold his head up and swallow his juice, so we were allowed to leave.

He had no balance and couldn't stand on his own for awhile. Even holding his head was a struggle and usually only lasted a minute. He asked what happened repeatedly, and we would tell him he lost his tooth! But that always surprised him and he kept telling us about how he had lost his leg not his tooth. Considering the shot was the last thing he remembered it made a lot of sense why he was still concerened with the shot he had in his leg. He also had a cute little stutter as he sorted things out. Watching him as he was loopy made us sad and laugh at the same time. He was just too cute!

When we came home it was all about snuggling on the couch and enjoying his brand new movie, Ice Age, and new coloring book! He even got a present from his Aunt Lindsey, dinos and a Little Critter book :) He would try to use his juice box but it was hard considering he was convinced there was two straws and he kept trying to grab the other one. Finally he was ready to eat some beloved ice cream, which is when we discovered this day was going to be rough. She scooped the ice cream and Connor saw it and started crying "I wanted one scoop not threeeee". The day continued like that, he just couldn't figure what he wanted or what would make him happy. Then he started getting nose bleeds. It was not fun and one in particular was a little scary because no matter what we tried it would not stop. And ended in stained bedding/clothing/towels. Finally a bath did the trick, he was able to lay back a little while Daddy held him.

After that we decided to head to Grandpa's per Connor's request. He was anxious to play and see Bella. It was not an easy task trying to figure him out, and on one occasion he ended up on a heap on the floor tantruming because he wanted to go outside and when everyone said they would take him he flailed crying "I don't want to go outside". His nose was a constant bother and I think he was suffering with a headache off and on. To everyone's relief especially Shea and I he was able to sleep the first one all day (his other attempts had failed due to the bloody noses).

He was out for the night and slept with Mommy, just in case.

Day 1 is over and Day 2 has officially started. He is much happier today, and we are hoping things will continue down that street :)

Wish luck to our favorite little boy ... Toothless!

Madison County Fair

Our weekend started Friday at the Fair!

After Daddy got him from work we headed to the fair, we strolled around and looked at all the events and activities. We especially enjoyed all the different animals ...

Later that night we went back to enjoy a few rides. We got 10 tickets, each ride was 2 tickets so Connor rode the train once (which he was done with the first time they circled around the track, so the 4 other circles around the track weren't all that exciting).

His favorite ride was an obstacle course, that you went all the way to the top on to slide down a large slide. He did that twice, and was itching for a third go.

But with only 4 tickets left we were looking for a ride that Bella could go on to. And we found one! She was one happy girl to ride beside brother. They were in a fit of giggles the entire time.

I love watching them together.

What a night, wish it could have lasted longer :)

Just another day at the park.

Zoo Day

Saturday we ventured to the local Zoo, with Shea's parents, and had a day of exploring and playing hard.

The petting zoo was first and Bella was all too excited to see the animals, until they went inside and got up close. She screamed and ran from all the animals and no matter what, she did not want to pet them.

The statue of the deer outside was a little more in her comfort zone, but her nrevous smile tells all. She was still wanting to keep her distance.

The absolute cutest part was when she started dancing to the chirping birds, all that head bobbing was adorable!

The monkeys were SO loud we heard them the entire time and Connor was itching to see them from the get go. And when we finally got there ... he was done. Silly boy.

Lucky us there is an extreme playground right next to the zoo that Connor got to enjoy while Bella decided to cat nap.

What a day!

Boat Ride

Monday for FHE we joined Shea's family and set out for the Snake River in Idaho Falls, alongside the Temple. We got to ride a little family boat (a friend of a friends). Our first boat ride adventure!

We were so grateful Grandpa invited us :)

My weak stomach cut our ride a little short but the kids didn't mind watching instead. Connor and Bella are madly in love with DOGS! So they watched a dog play fetch in the water. They were fascinated and in total awe, with excited shrills and giggles and bursts of laughter thrown all around.

Connor wanted to get his toes wet ...

We decided to enjoy a dinner at chick-fil-a, our favorite family friendly place to eat.

Lucky us we came on Family Carnival Day, and Connor was in bounce house heaven!

It wasn't long before we ended at home with two tired little ones, ready for bed.
