Camping

Shea and I went camping a few times when we were first married and always really enjoyed it.
But we both know it is a lot different going as a whole family with young kids.
Connor loves camping so we wanted everyone to have a fun go at it.
Unfortunately with Syd's sensitive Collar bone, still healing; we knew she'd have to have a sleepover at the Martins instead.
So we took everyone up to Cunningham Falls, the place I used to go camping as a kid. It is pretty close and well taken care of.
We found a perfect camping spot, and began a search for firewood, which seemed a bit sparse but made it all the funner to go searching.

Piper was our biggest concern since she is so young. Fortunately she LOVED my pinterest hack and did great watching and playing on her own the WHOLE time!

she hated being told we had enough wood.

Fortunately she didn't stay mad long.

Tin foil dinners everyone got their fill
and we had way too much to spare. 

When it got dark Piper was wide awake still and finally ready to escape Mom's contraption.

So then we figured out a new one which worked perfectly for awhile. 

But then she just was ready to snuggle and fall asleep.

Connor's head lamp was very handy
 and he LOVED IT!

And Bella was all about the smores.

After smores we got sleeping arrangements planned, which was originally going to be Connor, Bella and Daddy in the tent and Piper and Mom in the car. We were worried the tent would be too small for everyone and I was worried Piper may wake everyone up. Ironically Piper and Dad slept in the tent great, and the kids begged to sleep in the car with Mom which got a little hot and Mom got very little sleep worrying about the rain and kids and everything. I never sleep well when camping honestly.

 

It was a great trip the only thing spoiled was the hike we had planned for the morning, which got rained out. But we planned it for a different day and went to pick up our sorely missed Sydney.

Light the Fire

It's finally warm enough to start sitting by the fire and roasting hot dogs and making smores. 

So bring it on!

Collar Bone

So our FIRST BROKEN BONE. Syd.

Of course it would be her. 

So Easter night as she was getting ready for bed she stumbled off the stool in the bathroom, we heard the crash and yelp but waited and listened. Silence and then a hurt shriek which was unlike our Syd. 

So as Daddy ran and comforted her she explained that she had fell off the stool and hit her shoulder. 

But she complained about her shoulder and neck pain immediately after wards and all night. 

Poor thing.

That morning I called the doctor and let them know I was pretty sure it was her collar bone.

And all morning she sat and sulked on the couch not wanting to move. 

At the doctor she played like normal. 

It seemed the weight on that side was the issue. 

And as I assumed we were sent for xrays.

And sure enough a couple hours later the report was a broken colar bone and a sling for a couple weeks and full recovery in 6 weeks. 

Fortunately she was excited for her sling to arrive and we went out for ice cream to celebrate our broken but brave babe!

Her 2 week follow up was all happy and healthy reports and she was able to ditch the sling, 2 weeks later and it was still healing well and we were finished with doctor appointments. 

EASTER

We dyed eggs right before Easter, and the morning of Easter discovered we have two girls (Syd and Bella) who are boiled egg lovers!

Easter Morning was a bit hectic as always as we prep for church and hunt for eggs, eat breakfast and delve into our baskets. Quite possibly our most successful Easter yet though!

When everyone woke we all got ready for
church while we watched the
Easter Bunny is coming to town!

Then the HUNT began!

And after our hunt we broke out
our yummy eggs for breakfast!
